A few years ago I wrote a book. The book gives step-by-step instructions on how to prepare your home for a quick sale. It has been a surprising success. It appears that there are more than a few of you out there who would like a bit of help on this subject.
Selling your house is no easy thing. In my opinion, it's much, much harder than buying a house because you are forced to look at tiny details you never, ever think about when you're living in your house. In fact, you probably avoid thinking about those details if at all possible - hence, the "honey-do" list on the fridge with the yellowed paper and curling edges. No one wants to do the honey-do list, it's just boring.
On the day you realize you're going to have to "do something" to get your house ready to sell, you may feel overwhelmed, you may not know where to start. It's not as simple as picking up the honey-do list and starting at Item 1.
This is where I come in. I am a retired Realtor who has helped countless people sell their homes. Part of what I considered to be my duty as a listing agent was giving advice on things that should be done before the first buyer visited to give you the best chance of getting a full price offer quickly. That was a few years before the bottom fell out of the real estate market. Now, in my opinion, being ready BEFORE the brokers' open house, and before the first showing, is more important than ever.
I will be more than happy to answer questions and I'll post a few ideas and suggestions over the next few weeks to get the conversation started. I'm here to help.
